Kawhi Leonard, Draymond Green highlight NBA’s All-Defensive First Team

Chris Paul, DeAndre Jordan and Avery Bradley round out the first team.

Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY Sports

For the second time in his career and first time unanimously, San Antonio Spurs forward and back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year Kawhi Leonard was selected to the All-Defensive first team. The Spurs finished with the league’s best defensive rating.

Leonard is joined by Draymond Green, DeAndre Jordan, Avery Bradley and Chris Paul on the first team.

This is Paul’s fifth consecutive first-team selection and sixth overall. Jordan, Green and Leonard were all first-team selections last season, and this is the first time Bradley received the honor. Bradley finished as the top vote-getter among guards, having led the Boston Celtics to the league’s fifth-best defensive rating.

The second team is headlined by Tony Allen, Jimmy Butler, Paul George, Hassan Whiteside and Paul Millsap.

This is Butler’s third consecutive appearance on the second team roster, and both Whiteside and Millsap’s first selections. Allen was on last year’s first team, and this is his fifth selection. George was on the first team in 2014 and second team in 2013.

Jae Crowder finished just one vote behind George for the final forward spot.
