A timeline of Derrick Rose’s rise and fall with the Bulls

Rose’s career in Chicago was full of good and bad.

Caylor Arnold-USA TODAY Sports

The Derrick Rose era in Chicago ended on Wednesday with a trade to the New York Knicks, where the former MVP will try to reignite his career. Rose played with the Bulls for seven long, chaotic seasons, full of joy, excitement and, in the end, disappointment.

The glory days Bulls fans were hoping for when Rose arrived with much fanfare in 2008 never quite arrived, but his career in Chicago was still full of remarkable highs and lows. From the team’s back-to-back No. 1 seeds in 2011-12 to his standing as the youngest MVP in league history, Rose accomplished some truly great things with the Bulls.

Those are all just memories, though, after years of injuries and disappointment took all of the fun out of the relationship. Once Chicago’s favorite son, Rose became a controversial figure in his own city, where fans and media alike questioned his drive and commitment to his career after countless months of injury and recovery.

Now Rose is a member of the Knicks, just a few years after he seemed destined to become Chicago’s next sporting legend. How did Rose hit such great heights only to fall so far? Here’s a complete timeline of the biggest moments in his Bulls career.
