The NBA Draft is here. College stars will realize their NBA dreams and teams will add young talent with high hopes as Commissioner Adam Silver reads off all 60 draft picks.
NBA Draft order 2016: All 60 picks in the draft
The Philadelphia 76ers will choose between Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram with the first pick in the draft.
The Cleveland Cavaliers won the title on Monday in Oakland thanks to two No. 1 picks: LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, who were drafted eight years apart. They beat a 73-win Golden State Warriors team that was built largely in part by draft picks. Stephen Curry was selected No. 7 in 2009, Klay Thompson was drafted with the 11th pick in 2011 and they picked up a steal with the 35th pick of the 2012 draft in Draymond Green.
The Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers were the big winners at the Draft lottery in June, picking up the No. 1 and No. 2 picks, respectively. The 76ers will choose between Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram, leaving the Lakers with whichever possible star isn’t selected. After Simmons and Ingram, the talent pool in the draft class drops, but players like Buddy Hield, Dragan Bender and Kris Dunn could turn into stars.
The 76ers will be active on Thursday. After picking first, they’ll select 24th and 26th. The Boston Celtics -- who were bounced by the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the playoffs -- and the Denver Nuggets also have three first-round picks, with Boston choosing at No. 3, 16 and 23 and the Nuggets picking seventh, 15th and 19th.
