Kevin Durant doesn’t even want to think about joining the Wizards

Good morning. We have that and more in Monday’s NBA newsletter.

Good morning. Let’s basketball.

YOU’RE ON MY LIST: Kevin Durant’s camp has leaked a list of the six teams he’ll meet with in New York City beginning July 1: the Thunder, Warriors, Spurs, Celtics, Heat and Clippers. It’s a coup for the Celtics to make this list, and apparently some grievous insult for the Wizards and Lakers to miss it. (Washington missed the playoffs. The Lakers won 19 games. Really, y’all?) Anthony Slater has a nice rundown of Durant’s options.

MORE FREE AGENCY: Things are about to get real wild over the next few weeks, starting with rumors now. Sam Amick breaks down how the Raptors plan to retain DeMar DeRozan. (DeRozan does not appear to be interested in focusing on other teams right now.) The Lakers are chasing Hassan Whiteside hard.

DOPE: The NBA had a float in the NYC Pride Parade. Adam Silver, Mark Tatum and a bunch of NBA employees participated. Wonderful!

DRAFT FALLOUT: It's been so long since we talked; the NBA Draft feels years ago. Paul Flannery wrote about the Celtics maintaining their awkward status quo. I handed out draft grades I think you'll be pleased with. We rounded up slightly more critical draft grades from elsewhere, too: here's the West and here's the East. The Undefeated's style diary by Jill Hudson was excellent. Epstein and Prada discuss the Ibaka trade on Limited Upside. Zach Lowe's piece on the Ibaka trade was very interesting. Ricky O'Donnell looks ahead to the 2017 NBA Draft, which should be loaded. Appreciating the new trope of later draft picks sitting in the stands in a sort of unofficial extended green room.

LES AMERICAINS: The Team USA men’s basketball roster has been finalized after the last couple of candidates made their decisions. Here’s your depth chart (having no idea who is actually in front of anyone else, so ignore that part of it).

Kyrie Irving | Kyle Lowry
Jimmy Butler | Klay Thompson | DeMar DeRozan
Kevin Durant | Paul George | Harrison Barnes
Draymond Green | Carmelo Anthony
DeMarcus Cousins | DeAndre Jordan

Lots of wings, light on the true centers and point guards. It'll be fine. (It'll be fine, right?) I'm most excited to see Paul George back at it after that horrific injury suffered two years ago in the lead-in to the FIBA World Championship.

CO-SIGN: Get Earl Lloyd, the first black player in the NBA, on a postage stamp.

JIM GRAY’S WORLD: Interesting profile of Jim Gray, who somehow befriends the world’s greatest athletes.

A LEGEND ON A LEGEND: Bob Ryan prosecutes in LeBron vs. The People.

WASHED OUT: Powerful video piece from Marc Spears in conversation with Chris Washburn, who speaks candidly about his addiction.

RUDE: James Harden roasts a young camper to a nice crisp. That kid’s James Harden’s impersonation is spot on, though.

AHEM: Steve Kerr on gun violence in America.

Happy Monday. I’ll be gone for a few days but Prada will take care of you. Be excellent to each other.
