Garrett Temple agrees to 3-year, $24 million contract with Kings
Temple gets paid and Sacramento gets a much-needed addition to its backcourt.

Temple, 30, established himself as a solid defensive-minded guard in the Washington Wizards' rotation over the past four years. During the 2015-16 season, he set career-highs in points per game (7.3), rebounds per game (2.7) and games played (80) with Washington.
The Kings had a need for another guard as they look to finally make a leap in the Western Conference. Temple is a real change of pace from starting point guard Darren Collison, who is roughly six inches shorter, and that should allow new coach Dave Joerger to deploy some stronger defensive lineups on the perimeter.
The Kings' frontcourt remains its strength with All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins leading the way, but he's not the kind of elite rim protector who can cover for the mistakes of others. Temple's defensive ability and versatility should make him a solid fit in Sacramento.
