    Durant leads Team USA to another gold medal

    Team USA saved its best for last in a 96-66 takedown of Serbia, capturing the Olympic basketball gold medal for a third consecutive time. The finale in Rio punctuated an uneven Olympic run, but they’ll leave happy knowing they took care of business.

    Duplicating his standout performance in the 2012 gold medal game, Kevin Durant powered Team USA to the victory with a game-high 30 points, providing a preview of what it might be like to watch him play for the Golden State Warriors this season. Durant has thrived under the bright lights of the international stage, so enjoy all your “Warriors gave up a 3-1 lead in the Finals” jokes while you still can.

    Spain takes on Australia in bronze medal game

    Spain and Australia will tip off in the bronze medal game for men’s basketball on Sunday morning in Rio. The final day of competition at the 2016 Olympics, Spain is trying to win its third straight Olympic medal, while the Australian team is looking to bring home some hardware for the first time in history.

    Both teams took very different paths to get to the bronze medal game. Spain started off its trip to Rio with a pair of close losses to Croatia and Brazil. The team was struggling offensively, and its aging backcourt of Rudy Fernandez, Sergio Rodriguez and Juan Carlos Navarro seemed to be having trouble getting going.
