LeBron James has not won a game in Utah since 2011

LeBron James may have a Utah curse on his hands

LeBron James and the Cavaliers lost Tuesday night to the Utaz Jazz, 100-92, which could be chalked up as any regular road loss in the NBA’s 82-game schedule. The only difference with this loss is that James has now lost six straight games in Utah dating back to his second year with the Miami Heat.

James actually plays quite well while in Salt Lake City, averaging 27.2 points, 7 rebounds, 4.8 assists, he just hasn’t been able to get wins to go along with it.

Before the game on Tuesday night he talked about some of those games including past buzzer beaters.

What he didn’t mention is that he may have just have a Utah curse in the works. Let’s take a look at James’ current losing streak in Utah:

March 2, 2012: Jazz 99, Heat 98

James’ stats: 35 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists

This was back when James was unfairly (or fairly) criticized for passing the ball too much to teammates late in games. He had score 35 points on the night, including 17 points in the fourth quarter but passed up the final shot. You can hear the criticism come in strong from the announcers. This feels like so long ago.

January 14, 2013: Jazz 104, Heat 97

James’ stats: 32 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists

February 8, 2014: Jazz 94, Heat 89

James’ stats: 13 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists

November 5, 2014: Jazz 102, Cavaliers 100

James’ stats: 31 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists

THE GORDON HAYWARD GAME WINNER!

March 14, 2016: Jazz 94, Cavaliers 85

James’ stats: 23 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists

January 10, 2017: Jazz 100, Cavaliers 92

James’ stats: 29 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists

James is 5-9 overall in his career while playing in Utah and one of those nine losses also includes the infamous Sundiata Gaines game-winner. Gaines who was on a 10-day contract at the time, hit a buzzer-beater to lead the Jazz over the Cavaliers in 2010.

If the Jazz ever matchup with James in the NBA Finals, they better hope they get home court advantage.
