Vince Carter turns 40 years old today. He played 30 minutes in the Grizzlies’ win against the Raptors on Wednesday night and had an epic 360-degree layup for good measure.
Happy 40th birthday, Vince Carter!
Let’s see just how long he’s really been around the NBA.

It feels like Vince has been around a long time. He has. In fact, he’s been around so long you can trace Vince back to the founding of the NBA in five players.
Here we go ...
In 1998-99, Carter played on the Toronto Raptors with Charles Oakley.
Charles Oakley played with George Gervin on the 1985-86 Chicago Bulls.
George Gervin played with Neil Johnson on the 1972-73 Virginia Squires of the American Basketball Association. Neil Johnson had amazing sideburns.
Neil Johnson played with Dick Barnett on the 1966-67 New York Knicks.
Dick Barnett played with Dolph Schayes on the 1959-60 Syracuse Nationals.
Dolph Schayes played in the inaugural season of the NBA in 1949-50.
There is Vince Carter, traced back to the founding of the NBA in five players.
Happy birthday, Vince!
