The 23-year-old Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is averaging career highs across the board — in points, efficiency, three-point shooting and assists. On Sunday in a double overtime game against the Trail Blazers, he nailed the game-winner on a 26-point evening. Here’s the shot.
Pistons’ Kentavious Caldwell-Pope hit 3 threes in 2nd overtime to beat the Trail Blazers
C.J. McCollum and Caldwell-Pope traded clutch shots all game and through two overtime periods.

That three-pointer was one of three that Caldwell-Pope hit in the second overtime, though — the first putting the Pistons up temporarily 117-116, the second cutting the deficit to 124-122, and the final shot that gave Detroit their 125-124 final score. No wonder he shot that game-winner without even a moment of hesitation.
Detroit was only in double overtime because C.J. McCollum wouldn’t stop missing game-tying shots.
But despite two game-tying shots, McCollum couldn’t knock down the potential game-winner at the end of the second overtime. He had a great look at a jumper, but it rattled off the rim and out of bounds.
The Trail Blazers had one subsequent inbounds play with fractions of a second left that the Pistons defended well, and that was it, with Detroit ending up with the win thanks to Caldwell-Pope. Now’s the point in the article where you thank me for not making an awful Young Pope joke about KCP. You’re welcome!
