Seth Curry is out indefinitely with a stress reaction in his left tibia, per the New York Times’ Marc Stein. There is no timetable yet for his return.

Curry’s injury is the second major hit of the early preseason, as the Utah Jazz found out early on Saturday morning that they may be without guard Dante Exum for the entire season.

Losing Curry is bad news for the Mavericks, as head coach Rick Carlisle had just stated five days ago that he anticipated for him to start at shooting guard. Carlisle cited a need for consistent shooting and wing defense as reasons for Curry to join the starting lineup, per ESPN’s Tim McMahon.

If Curry is out for extended time, Dallas should look to start Wes Matthews at the two-guard spot again, and Yogi Ferrell should see extended time.
