NBA scores 2017: The Pistons finally lose in California, and 6 other things from Tuesday night’s games

The Pistons beat the Clippers and Warriors. Then lost to the Lakers. Sure.

The first few weeks of the NBA season are always fun because bad teams trick you into thinking they’re good and good teams do the opposite. Does anyone really think the Knicks are better than the Cavs? Nah. It takes time for teams to develop and thrash their garbage opponents.

The Pistons were off to a really hot start to the season, but finally started to revert back to normal with a 113-93 loss to the Lakers Tuesday night. Before that, they were off to a 5-3 start which included wins over the Warriors, Clippers and Timberwolves — in a row! Huh?

Reggie Jackson was steering the ship, Tobias Harris was taking The Leap, and Avery Bradley was meshing perfectly. Maybe they still are a good team, but it’s unlikely they’ll pull off a string of games like that again. It was some real October weirdness, but finally the Pistons came back to Earth in L.A., shooting just 31 percent from deep, watching all the Lakers’ youth drive right by their line of defenders.

The Lakers had a balanced attack with some more flashes of brilliance from their fun young 20-somethings. Lonzo Ball finished with 13 points and six rebounds, Brandon Ingram scored 13, and Larry Nance had a 14-point, 12-rebound double-double.

The Lakers sure are fun when they’re fun.

Giannis was really good, and, um, that was about it for the Bucks

So much for a healthy matchup between the current and maybe future MVP. The Thunder demolished the Bucks, and never looked back, 110-91. Russell Westbrook did a typical 2016-17 performance, just one assist short of a triple-double despite sitting the entire fourth quarter. He had 12 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists in 27 minutes.

No points may have been prettier than his layup-turned-dunk mid-air:

Giannis Antentokounmpo got his with 28 points on 9-of-14 shooting, but every other Buck in the rotation shot below 50 percent. They went 42 percent from the field as a team, and nobody else scored in double figures.

The Thunder’s Big 3 was in rhythm though, and Carmelo Anthony found his place in the team’s second unit as the primary scorer. He went 6-of-14 for 17 points.

Actually, the Pacers’ Paul George trade was good

Welcome to Nov. 1 where the Knicks are good, and Damantas Sabonis is double-doubling — for the fourth time in five games. He finished with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting and 16 rebounds. This coming the game after Victor Oladipo’s buzzer-beater. Maybe the Pacers are going to be fine.

They whupped the Kings on Tuesday night, 101-83, and allowed just 30 FIRST HALF points.

Indiana is 4-3, and Myles Turner has played in just one game.
