Tobias Harris was a part of the blockbuster trade sending Blake Griffin to Detroit and Harris, Avery Bradley, and Boban Marjanovic to the Clippers. Harris is having one of the best offensive seasons of his career and it will hopefully be something he can continue with the Clippers.
Tobias Harris is shooting 3s almost as frequently as Klay Thompson and it’s a good thing
Tobias Harris looks like a whole different offensive weapon.

Harris is shooting more threes
It seems Tobias Harris has taken notice of what propels all the best offensive teams, and individuals, in the modern era of basketball — threes!
A season after just 30 percent of shots came from behind the line, he’s firing from deep on 42 percent of his shot attempts, according to Basketball Reference. That’s a tremendous difference and equates to more than two more attempts per game. To compare, Klay Thompson shoots them 46 percent of the time, and Victor Oladipo 34 percent of the time.
The 6’8 forward is turning himself into more of a wing than an undersized big.
And it’s working!
Not only has Harris been taking more threes (3.8 per game last year to 6.1 this year), but he’s hitting them at a 43.5 percent clip. That’s by far the best of his career, and he ranks 18th in the league overall.
Harris credits LASIK eye surgery for his improved shooting precision
According to The Athletic, Harris wore contact lenses before this season, but he suffered from eye infections when sweat would drip down. So Harris opted for LASIK eye surgery over the summer, which he said has improved his vision.
Maybe he should have done that years ago.
So where can his game go from here?
Despite his label as an NBA veteran now in his seventh season, Harris is just 25 years old, nearing his prime years. That’s the plus of joining the league as an 18-year-old.
He’s averaging 18 points, five rebounds, and two assists as one of, if not the option in Detroit’s offense. That’s all really solid, as is his career-best 58 percent true shooting percentage. His defense hasn’t quite caught up though.
If his defense can improve though, Harris is showing he’s a top wing threat in the NBA, especially as a scorer, and that’s huge. We’ll see what the Clippers can do with him.
