With just under 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter of the Rockets game against the Jazz on Monday night, Houston trailed by eight points, 91-83. Unlike most of the last 13 games they’ve played, their winning streak was in danger. At the very least, this one would go down to the wire.

It didn’t.

Eric Gordon decided to turn on the heat instead, and fire off an unreasonable supply of three-pointers to ship his team a 14th straight victory by 21 points, 120-99. The Rockets closed on a breathtaking 37-8 run.

Gordon himself had 17 points in the final frame. Fifteen of them came on three-point shots.

They came in bunches, too. He sparked a 15-0 run with nine straight points himself.

The team’s general manager, Daryl Morey, was even blown away.

Gordon finished the game with 33 points on 12-of-18 shooting. Chris Paul had 18 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds, and Clint Capela had 24 points and 20 rebounds. James Harden, at 26 points, six rebounds and six assists, maybe had the fourth-best game among his teammates.

The Rockets offense is for real, and the Warriors have to be on the lookout.
