The Rising Stars Challenge concludes the first day of 2017 NBA All-Star Weekend in New Orleans. It will include a practice in the morning, media availability in the early afternoon, and the All-Star Celebrity game in the evening.
NBA All-Star Weekend schedule for Friday: Rising Stars Challenge highlights busy 1st day
The first day of All-Star Weekend is highlighted by the Celebrity Game and Rising Stars Challenge.


Minnesota Timberwolves budding superstar Karl-Anthony Towns will be leading the U.S. Team in the Rising Stars Challenge. With Towns will be D’Angelo Russell of the Lakers and Devin Booker of the Suns, who was one of the leading scorers from last season’s game. New York’s Kristaps Porzingis will lead the World Team, who are looking for revenge from last season’s 3-point U.S. Team victory.
The Celebrity Game will start at 7 p.m. ET just before the Rising Stars Challenge. The teams will be coached by Michael Smith and Jemele Hill, co-hosts of ESPN’s new SC6, SportCenter’s 6 p.m. show. Smith will coach the West, and Hill the East.
Smith’s West team includes the likes of Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, former NBA player Baron Davis, and WNBA superstar Candace Parker. For the East, former NBA player Jason Williams, Bucks owner Marc Lasry, and Nick Cannon headline.
Draymond Green will be an assistant for the West squad, and Kyle Lowry as one for the East.
