Former NBA player and 2011 lottery pick Jimmer Fredette scored 73 points in a Chinese Basketball Association game. That’s the fourth-highest single-game point total in CBA history. His team somehow lost, 135-132, in overtime.
Jimmer Fredette scored 73 points in China and his team still lost
He shot 51 percent from the field.

Fredette’s points were scored on an efficient 25-of-49 shooting, including 10-of-18 from three-point range and a perfect 13 makes at the line. He played more than 54 minutes and turned the ball over six times, also registering four rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
His 36.3 points per game on the season ranks third in the league, behind undrafted Errick McCollum and former Providence player MarShon Brooks. He’s shooting 41 percent from deep and 93 percent from the free throw line. That’s some crazy efficiency, albeit in a less competitive league.
Fans chant “Jimo” in China, which is the closest word to Jimmer in Mandarin, according to Yahoo Sports. It translates to mean loneliness, though he’s been assured that the fans are speaking highly of him as a “loneliness God,” meaning he stands so highly that he has no enemies.
Fredette, still just 27 years old, will be a candidate to sign with an NBA team once his CBA season ends, though he’s had a rough time sticking around the league. After his rookie season he never played more than 14 minutes per game, and spent last season playing in just six games for the New Orleans Pelicans and New York Knicks.
