The Sixers traded Nerlens Noel to the Mavericks on Thursday. Noel had been the longest-tenured 76er, arriving in the warm days of June 2013. His transaction crowns a new graybeard in Philadelphia’s locker room.
Joel Embiid is now the longest-tenured Philadelphia 76er
After losing his friend Nerlens Noel to trade, The Process can claim this prestigious locker room status.

The 76er now with the longest tenure is none other than The Process himself, Joel Embiid.
Embiid was acquired in the 2014 NBA draft and signed his rookie deal that summer, officially making him a Sixer. However, Embiid was injured at the time and didn’t play his first game until this season. He spent some of his time on the Sixers roster rehabilitating his injuries in Qatar. He spent some of his time on the Sixers roster pounding Shirley Temples.
He has now played about 600 minutes over 31 games. That changes nothing: He is the longest-tenured 76er, and he shall command respect.
He’s not alone as a young dude who has done the most time with his franchise, however. Ben McLemore is the longest-tenured Sacramento King, also picked up in June 2013. (This assumes he isn’t traded on Thursday, in which case Rudy Gay becomes the longest-tenured King, having been acquired in December 2013.)
Nick Young is the longest-tenured Laker, having been signed in July 2013. If he is traded as expected, that honor goes to Julius Randle, a 2014 draft pick.
