The Houston Rockets have traded Tyler Ennis to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Marcelo Huertas, who the team will waive, according to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Ennis is a young guard who hasn’t stuck anywhere in the league yet, but he’ll likely get a chance to play in Los Angeles, which is tumbling towards the bottom of the league. For the Rockets, this is purely a salary dump, as they look to be active in the post-deadline buyout market.

The Rockets already dealt away K.J. McDaniels, and this move pushes them even further below the salary cap, meaning they can strike on the buyout market in the coming days. One candidate who makes sense is Andrew Bogut, who was dealt to Philadelphia in the Nerlens Noel trade and is expected to be bought out. Before this season, Bogut almost chose Houston as his trade destination when the Warriors shipped him off to clear cap space for Kevin Durant.
