Paul Pierce checked in late to hit one final 3-pointer in front of adoring Celtics fans

In Pierce’s final game played in Boston, it ended perfectly.

On Sunday, Paul Pierce played his final game in Boston. He received an incredible standing ovation to begin the game, starting for the Los Angeles Clippers despite limited minutes this season. After five scoreless minutes, Los Angeles pulled him from the game and he didn’t return until 20 seconds remaining and the Celtics firmly in control.

Of course, on his final shot in his final game played in Boston, where he is beloved and won a championship, Pierce hit a three. Just like old times.

Here’s what it sounded like in the building.

Celtics fans had chanted for him to get in the game all throughout the second half. (An easy thing to do, seeing how Boston led the entire game.) When he finally did, he rewarded them with the coolest possible moment.

What a perfect way for Paul Pierce’s final game in Boston to end.
