Jordan Brand releases 3 clean retro sneakers for 2017 NBA All-Star Game

This is a nice spin on the classic designs.

Jordan Brand is launching three new versions of iconic classic sneakers for NBA All-Star weekend in New Orleans. The three pairs, which will be released between Feb. 16 to 19, are in iridescent turquoise and purple colors, lining up with the Mardi Gras nature of the city.

It’s interesting that Nike Basketball will not be releasing All-Star sneakers, for reasons you can read about in-depth here. Nike signature sneakers have proven not to be a valued commodity, and the NBA hosting an All-Star game in New Orleans just a few years ago probably factors into that, too. It’s another reminder that Jordan Brand operates separately from Nike, even though they’re under the same brand. Who can forget the Jordan commercials featuring Russell Westbrook that took shots at Kevin Durant, a Nike signee.

We’ve seen so many iterations of the classic designs, but this is a clever new colorway. Perhaps they don’t look quite as nice outside of the promotional pictures, but if the iridescent translates, these are fresh.

Here’s the classic Air Force One design — officially the Air Jordan I All-Star — which will be out on Feb. 19.

Here’s the Air Jordan XXXI All-Star, which launches on Feb. 16.

And this is the Air Jordan VI All-Star, released on Feb. 17.

Here’s what Jordan Brand says about the shoes in their announcement, along with some more photos of the shoes themselves.
