Just before Cavaliers-Wizards tipped off Monday night, a report came out that LeBron James wanted Carmelo Anthony on the Cavaliers. He wanted him so bad that he was willing to give up Kevin Love in return. (James has since called the rumor “trash).
Kevin Love had his best game of the year on the same night trade rumors were swirling
Kevin Love hit six three-pointers and scored 39 points

Three hours later, Love finished with 39 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and three steals. He was 6-of-10 from the three-point line. He was 11-of-11 from the free-throw line. And it wasn’t just his stat line that looked good. He was there for the Cavaliers every single time they needed him. He made big shot after big shot all night.
LeBron James hit a turn around three-pointer to tie game at the end of regulation and sent the game to overtime. While James’ shot was spectacular, it was Love’s pass that set him up. It was just as crucial as the shot itself. The pass was perfect.
Once in overtime, James fouled out and it was time for his co-stars to step up. Kyrie Irving did just that with Love and Kyle Korver. The game ended on a fitting note as Love grabbed a crucial rebound with 3.6 seconds remaining in overtime. He was immediately fouled and hit two free throws to seal the game, 140-135.
Love was exactly what the Cavaliers needed him to be tonight and James seemed pretty OK with it.
