Well this is awkward. On Sunday night D’Angelo Russell scored a career-high 40 points against the Cavaliers while also becoming the youngest Lakers’ player to ever score as many in a game.
LeBron James didn’t call D’Angelo Russell a special player. He was talking about Kyrie Irving
WHOOPS.

While the Lakers lost to the Cavaliers, it was still a big night for a young team and something they could build on. Especially when LeBron James himself declared Russell a “special player.”
But it turned out LeBron was actually talking about Kyrie Irving. The special point guard on his own team. Not Russell.
The Lakers admitted there was an error in the transcript and James did not in fact call Russell “special.” Good thing no one noticed or made a big deal of it Monday night.
Just kidding, looks like they did. I’m sure D’Angelo Russell won’t lose sleep over the mixup, but it would have to be disappointing to find out LeBron was talking about someone else.
