Kobe Bryant’s retirement project is family-friendly basketball analysis with a puppet

It was a little strange, but I learned to trust Kobe long ago.

Kobe Bryant debuted the second installment in his Canvas City project on Sunday, titled Canvas City: Musecage, and the internet didn’t quite understand it. There was Kobe, embracing his old age with a great looking beard. And then there was a puppet named “Little Mamba” that could have been a dinosaur, but I’m not really sure.

In its simplest form, MuseCage is Bryant’s way of talking about basketball as if it was an episode of Sesame Street. Bryant described his new project in an ESPN press release earlier in the week:

Canvas City: Musecage helps others better their best by delivering complex basketball insights in a light-hearted, easy-to-digest way. The show helps others understand the game at a higher level and offers a new voice to sports storytelling that will hopefully captivate the whole family.”

While it all seemed a little strange and out of place on Sunday, I learned to never doubt Kobe long ago. He’s probably on his way to dominating retirement and taking over Disney for all we know, with this new project geared towards children. Allowing our youth to channel their inner Russell Westbrook at an early age is something Bryant would excel with.

You can see more of the episode here, where Bryant breaks down film on James Harden and Russell Westbrook in a simplified way for all to understand. Kobe’s first Canvas City project aired on Christmas Day, called Guarding the Greats, that you can see below.
