The highly anticipated Spurs-Warriors game started out with San Antonio going on a startling 15-0 run. It wasn’t until the 7:47 mark in the first quarter that Steph Curry hit a three-pointer, finally putting Golden State on the board. For the first 12 minutes of the game, it looked like the Warriors could be in serious trouble. After all, they only scored 17 points in the first quarter, which is not what we are used to seeing from Golden State.
Warriors blow off the first quarter, still dominate Spurs
The Warriors were down 20 in the first quarter, and it didn’t matter.

But as is the theme of most Warriors games, they found their way to dominate. After beating Houston on the road last night, the Warriors could have found excuses to throw this game away down big in the second quarter. But before halftime, the game was suddenly tied at 45, and the Warriors were back on track.
In the second quarter, we saw a growing trend in the NBA, as the Spurs tried to stop the Warrior comeback. San Antonio completely collapsed on Curry at the three-point line, leaving a wide open Zaza Pachulia at the basket. Curry found Pachulia for two easy points.
Within the first two minutes of the second half, the Warriors took their first lead at 59-57. While the Warriors had only scored 17 points in the first quarter, they scored 67 points in the next two, heading into the fourth quarter up 84-77. They never looked back.
Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were brilliant as ever for the Warriors but it was the late play of David West that kept the Spurs at bay. He finished the night with 15 points, five assists, and four rebounds, hitting big shot after big shot and finding teammates for open baskets.
Curry finished the night with 29 points and 11 assists, and Thompson chipped in 23 points of his own. When the buzzer sounded, the Warriors won 110-98, with a 32-point swing during the game.
Golden State is now on a nine-game winning streak and has a 3.5 game lead on the Spurs. The Spurs’ hopes of catching the Warriors may be dwindling, all the while, the Warriors have found their stride again. And oh yeah ... they get Kevin Durant back soon.
