They San Antonio Spurs are currently only two games back of the Golden State Warriors. The same Warriors that are also figuring out how to play without Kevin Durant for likely the rest of the regular season.
NBA scores 2017: The Spurs can still grab the No. 1 seed in the West
The rest of the season will be a battle for first place between the Warriors and Spurs.

The Spurs and Warriors also play two more times, both of those being in San Antonio. Both of those meetings will also be the second night of back-to-backs for the Warriors. Is it a given that the Warriors will struggle without Durant and fall into the two seed? No. Is it is possible now that the Spurs could sneak in and steal homecourt advantage through the Western Conference playoffs? Yes.
Both the Spurs and Warriors have already clinched playoff spots. They’re currently the only two teams in the league to do so. That means the rest of the season will be a battle for that No. 1 spot.
The Spurs got another big win on Monday night and Kawhi Leonard showed why he should be mentioned in every single MVP conversation for this season. James Harden dominated the game early by scoring 23 points in the first half. Not only was it 23 points but it was against the Spurs, who have the No. 1 defense in the league.
While Harden dominated early, Leonard took over when it mattered. With 25 seconds left in the game, he hit a huge three-pointer to put the Spurs up 110-108.
On the very next sequence, he came down and had a massive chase down block on Harden.
The best part of the entire sequence was Manu Ginobili losing his mind.
Manu, who was just like the rest of us as Kawhi took over the game, also discussed who Kawhi is becoming as a person and a player.
What a coincidence and what a way to celebrate the big win.
Leonard and Harden each ended the night with 39 points.
Dion had his revenge game against the Cavaliers
The Miami Heat stole a win in Cleveland thanks to a lot of Dion Waiters. Waiters started his night with a quick 14 points in the first quarter. He finished with 29 points on the night, including a dagger three-pointer to complete his revenge game.
Miami has now won 19 of its last 23 games and currently sits only two and a half games out of sixth place. They even own the tiebreaker against the Pacers, who currently sit in eighth place. So much for tanking.
Linsanity was back
For a moment, at least. The Nets beat the Grizzlies on the road thanks to 18 points and four rebounds from Jeremy Lin. He scored 11 of those in the fourth quarter as the Nets stole a win on the road. He even had a dagger three that put the Nets up for good. Long live Jeremy Lin.
Dunk of the night
Avery Bradley doesn’t dunk often so this gets the win for Monday night.
Assist of the night
Jameer Nelson with the drive, spin, and beautiful assist.
