NBA scores 2017: Six Eastern Conference playoff spots are still up for grabs

Teams fighting for spots took care of business on Monday so we must wait until Wednesday for final matchups.

The Pacers, Bulls, and Heat all needed to win on Monday to have a chance at the playoffs and guess what? They all did just that. While all three teams needed wins, most of the pressure fell on the Heat. With the Pacers and Bulls both taking care of business in their respective games, Miami would have been eliminated from the playoffs with a loss. It took the Cavaliers (without LeBron James and Kyrie Irving) to overtime and won 124-121 to kept its playoff hopes alive.

Since all three teams took care of business, we now have to wait until the final night of the season to know the the Eastern Conference playoff matchups. Here are the scenarios:

  • The Celtics can clinch the No. 1 seed with a win against the Bucks on Wednesday. If they lose and the Cavaliers beat the Raptors, the Cavaliers will get the No. 1 seed.
  • The Raptors have clinched the No. 3 seed and the Wizards have clinched the No. 4 seed.
  • If the Hawks beat the Hornets on Tuesday, they will clinch fifth and the Bucks will get sixth.
  • If the Pacers win their final game, they’re in seventh. If both the Pacers and Bulls win their final games, Chicago is in eighth. The Heat need to win their final game against the Wizards and then have either the Pacers or the Bulls lose. If there is three-team tie, Chicago will take No. 7, Miami would be No. 8, and Indiana is out due to tiebreakers.

The Western Conference bracket is all locked up except for two teams. The Clippers and Jazz still do not know who will have home court advantage in that series. The final two nights of the season should be interesting if nothing else.
