According to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Joakim Noah will undergo surgery for a torn left rotator cuff. The surgery is expected to have a recovery time of four to six months. This is already Noah’s second surgery of the season, as he went out in late February to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery. He also faces a 20-game suspension when he returns for violating the league’s drug policy. He currently has three years and $54 million left on his deal with the New York Knicks.

The Knicks signed Noah over the summer to a four-year, $72 million contract, but he has not been able to live up to the Joakim Noah we once knew. Before going out in late February, he hadn’t played since Feb. 4 and only played a total of 21 minutes in the 10 games prior. He also had injury trouble in his last year with the Chicago Bulls, missing 53 games in the 2015-16 season.
The future of the Knicks and Noah does not look great at this point in time.
