Here’s everything at stake on the NBA season’s final night

There’s one night left in the 2016-17 NBA regular season. Twenty-eight teams will be in action. (Happy trails to the Phoenix Suns and Charlotte Hornets, whose seasons are mercifully over already.) Here’s what’s at stake.

The final playoff spots in the East. The Pacers and Bulls can clinch their playoff bids with wins. The Heat need to beat Washington and have one of those two teams lose. All three games tip off at 8 p.m. ET, with Hawks-Pacers on ESPN. The two teams that get in will fill the Nos. 7 and 8 seeds in the East in some order.

The No. 1 seed in the East. The Celtics can clinch the No. 1 seed with a win over the Bucks (8 p.m. ET, League Pass). Milwaukee is reportedly resting several starters. If Boston loses and Cleveland beats the Raptors (8 p.m. ET, League Pass, everything is starting at 8!), the Cavaliers will be the No. 1 seed and Boston will be No. 2.

Home-court advantage in the West’s No. 4-5 series. The Clippers and Jazz know they will meet each other in the first round as the Nos. 4 and 5 seeds. But home court is still to be determined. L.A. can clinch it with a win over the Kings (10:30 p.m. ET, League Pass). The Jazz need both a win over the Spurs (9 p.m. ET, League Pass) and a Clippers loss.

NBA draft lottery order. Several areas of the cellar standings are a mess and what happens Wednesday will determine what tiebreakers are needed and who will have a better likelihood of marginally better picks in June. The teams involved in the various lottery intrigues are the Magic and Sixers (for the fourth-worst record), the Knicks, Wolves, Kings, Mavericks, and Pelicans (for the Nos. 6-10 worst records), the Hornets and Pistons (for the 11th-worst record) and the Nuggets and the team that misses out on the East playoffs for the 13th-worst record. I suspect we’re going to have only minor clarity by the end of Wednesday and that coin flips will be required.
