Chyna Thomas, the younger sister of Boston Celtics star Isaiah Thomas, was killed in a one-car accident on Saturday morning in Washington state. The accident happened at 5 a.m. on Interstate 5 in Federal Way.

Thomas’ car reportedly slowly drifted left before hitting a barrier and vaulting head-on into a sign post. Thomas was driving a 1998 Toyota Camry and was not wearing her seatbelt, according to police.

Thomas’ Facebook page listed her occupation as a package handler for FedEx, according to KIRO 7 in Washington.

The accident comes one day before Isaiah Thomas will lead the Celtics into the NBA playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference against the Chicago Bulls.

Thomas, 28, had a breakout season for the Celtics in his sixth year in the league. He finished third in the NBA in scoring at 28.9 points per game. Boston placed first in the East at 53-29.

“We are terribly saddened by the tragic loss of Chyna Thomas,” the Celtics released in a statement. “The thoughts and prayers of the entire Celtics organization are with Isaiah and his family.”

TNT’s Ernie Johnson began Sunday’s program by offering his condolences to the Thomas family.
