NBA scores 2017: The Bulls might mess around and make the playoffs

The Bulls skipped into seventh place in the East on Saturday.

The Chicago Bulls started the night in ninth place in the Eastern Conference but after beating the Atlanta Hawks, they hopped two places into seventh. The Bulls, Heat, and Pacers are all tied with records of 37-39, but due to tiebreakers it breaks down like this:

7th - Chicago Bulls

8th - Miami Heat

9th - Indiana Pacers

The Bulls have had a rough year all around. A team that was built around Jimmy Butler, Dwyane Wade, and Rajon Rondo has not lived up to expectations. Although to be fair, many thought this team would never work out together in the first place. After losing Wade to an elbow injury for the rest of the season and trading away Taj Gibson and Doug McDermott, many thought it would be best if the Bulls missed the playoffs and hit the lottery this year in an impressive draft. But they may just accidentally find themselves in the playoffs and likely experience an early-round exit.

The Bulls remaining schedule includes the Pelicans, Knicks, Sixers, the Magic, and the Nets twice. Meanwhile, the Pacers still have to play the Cavaliers, Raptors, Bucks, and Hawks. While the Pacers need to make the playoffs in hopes of keeping Paul George, the Bulls could afford to miss them. But that may not be what happens in the end.

Winner: Blake Griffin scores 36 against the Lakers

Griffin finished the night with 36 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Blake also had a career-high by hitting four three-pointers in the game. The Clippers have now won three in a row.

Loser: Blown alley-oop for Dwight Howard

You could say the Bulls won their game tonight against the Hawks thanks to Dwight Howard missing this dunk late in the game. Sure, no one play determines an entire game, but this sure didn’t help:

Winner: Elfrid Payton and his triple-doubles

Payton finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists against the Nets. It marks his fifth of the season and the eighth of his career. What is incredible is that he already has five more triple-doubles than any player in Orlando Magic history.

DeMar DeRozan got a toaster! Is a toaster epidemic starting in the NBA?!
