Serge Ibaka and Norman Powell show how dangerous the Raptors can be in win over Bucks

The Toronto Raptors own a 3-2 series lead over the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the NBA playoffs, after a 118-93 win in Game 5.

The Raptors held control of this game throughout until they completely pulled away in the fourth quarter.

Unlike the other Toronto wins, this game wasn’t won behind the efforts of just DeMar DeRozan or Kyle Lowry. Serge Ibaka and Norman Powell stepped up with their superstar counterparts struggling, and proved that this Raptors team’s depth makes it so dangerous.

Another monster game from Giannis Antetokounmpo wasn’t enough to keep this one close.

This was the Norman Powell game

After playing six minutes in the first two games of this series combined, Powell was introduced to the Raptors’ starting lineup in Game 4. He was good with 12 points on 3-of-7 shooting, but he was on another level in Game 5.

Powell was a flamethrower from deep with a career-high 25 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field.

With DeRozan and Lowry both shooting shaky numbers in the early-going, he kicked it up a notch, even throwing down an insane dunk to add to the Raptors already big fourth-quarter lead.

He was a human pogo stick as he destroyed the rim to cap off an incredible showing.

Serge Ibaka played big as a rim protector

Lost in talks about the Bucks’ incredible wingspans is the guy guarding them. Ibaka’s length was felt throughout as he disrupted shot after shot around the rim.

In the opening quarter he held Antetokounmpo to 1-of-6 shooting, and though that didn’t last, the slow start helped Toronto gain a lead it wouldn’t lose.

Ibaka finished with a steal and three blocks.

It was just his defensive effort either. Ibaka finished with 19 points and six rebounds, scoring inside and out. He really took his game into Antetokounmpo, putting him to work on the block.

The Raptors looked like the complete team we thought they were, and that came even without their best two players at their best. DeRozan still wasn’t all the way there and Lowry sat a few minutes, still uncomfortable with his back injury.

This Toronto team is deeper than its previous installments and that’s what gives them the opportunity to knock off the Cavaliers should they finish off the Bucks.
