Will the NBA Finals be worth the wait?

LeBron James and the Cavaliers have been on a collision course with the Warriors ever since last June and The Finals are upon us! Finally.

This should be epic. Was it worth it, though?

That’s a trickier question than it appears because the inevitability of this year’s matchup has cast a pall over everything else that’s happened in the league. Even the playoffs were a letdown.

We get into that, plus the inevitable LeBron-Jordan question, and what we’d like to see from both teams. (Paul even remembered to plug into his microphone 25 minutes into the pod.)

Also on the pod:

  • Gonz enjoyed this regular season more than Flanns. He’s able to compartmentalize, apparently.
  • Still, this should be really good. These are the two best versions of these teams with good health and solid rest.
  • Any concern over the Cavs dropping a game in the conference finals? Alternative question: Do we trust the Cavs’ defense yet?
  • Gonz is all in on Kyrie Irving who figures to be an interesting character in this series.
  • The LeBron-Jordan thing. It’s a great topic to talk about, but things get irrational quickly when you start talking about the Jordan mythology.
  • The Warriors are clearly the favorites. But would it shock either of us if the Cavs went back-to-back? No, it would not.
  • We finish with predictions. You’ll have to get to the end though.
