Nike has an eight-year global partnership with the NBA, starting in the 2017-2018 season. You will now begin to see the iconic Nike Swoosh on NBA gear, including jerseys, shorts, and even compression tights, worn on the court. With 25 years of research, Nike is going all in on redesigning the NBA’s jerseys, making them the best possible quality for its athletes.

Here is what we know

According to a press release from Nike, players on Team USA at the 2016 Olympic Games began to test out the new uniforms, providing feedback on what they preferred and disliked. Kyrie Irving, member of the gold medal men’s basketball team, spoke about the new uniforms.

“The mental advantage of a quality uniform is priceless. The fact that Nike listened to all of our feedback while developing the new NBA uniforms speaks volumes. I’m excited for the new fit and feel.”

Fans will also notice a new look on the court next year as Nike has announced each team will have four primary jerseys. The NBA will do away with the traditional “home” and “away” jerseys, and teams will have four options to choose from each game. The home team will make the choice before each game and the visiting team will wear a contrasting color.

Eight teams will also have an extra fifth jersey which is a “Classic Edition.” Those teams will be the Bucks, Hawks, Heat, Hornets, Lakers, Pacers, Suns, and Warriors.
