Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki said he was disappointed with the results of an investigation that uncovered deep-rooted sexual misconduct at the highest levels of the Dallas franchise he’s played for his entire career.
Dirk Nowitzki on Mavericks investigation: ‘It’s disappointing. It’s heartbreaking.’
Nowitzki spoke on the investigation that uncovered sexual misconduct in the front office.

“It’s disappointing,” Nowitzki said, according to The Dallas Morning News’ Eddie Sefko. “It’s heartbreaking. I’m glad it’s all coming out. I was disgusted when I read the article, obviously, as everybody was. I was shocked ... that our franchise, my franchise, that stuff like that was going on.”
An in-depth Sports Illustrated investigation uncovered former Mavericks CEO Terdema Ussery had frequently requested sex and made sexually explicit advances to female employees over the 18 years that he worked there. It also discovered Mavs.com writer Earl K. Sneed was charged and arrested for domestic violence during the 2010-11 season, was subsequently kept by the team, then accused of acting violently toward a woman. The Sports Illustrated report also sheds light on former human resources director Buddy Pittman, who is accused of covering up the sexual misconduct charges.
Ussery left the Mavericks for Under Armour in 2015 well before the report published, but later resigned due to an “organizational reshuffle” Sports Illustrated asserts was related to his sexual misconduct toward a woman in an elevator. Both Sneed and Pittman have been fired since the report.
