Houston eliminated the Timberwolves in five games on Wednesday night and finally started to look like the number one seed in the West we had been accustomed to seeing all season long.
Rockets close out series against Timberwolves with dominant third quarter
Houston will face the winner of the Utah-OKC series.

If you want to see a balanced scoring attack, just check this one out:
Clint Capela: 26 points
James Harden: 22 points
Eric Gordon: 19 points
Trevor Ariza: 16 points
P.J. Tucker: 15 points
And aside from all of that, don’t forget Chris Paul who had 12 points and 9 assists of his own.
The Timberwolves put up a valiant fight in this war against the Rockets but the Houston is just too good to be matched this early. Now they’ll wait to see if they play OKC or Utah.
Rockets 122, Wolves 104 - Final
Rockets advance 4-1 to head to the Western Conference Semifinals.
Rockets 98, Wolves 82 - 6:27 4Q
Karl-Anthony towns having a great game with 21 points and 13 rebounds but it’s no match for the Rockets, especially with Clint Capella has 19 points and 15 rebounds of his own.
Rockets 85, Wolves 74 - End of 3Q
Another great third quarter for the Rockets as Harden puts in 13 points of his own.
Rockets 85, Wolves 72 - 2:33 3Q
A 19-point swing in this quarter alone! This is danger zone for the Wolves.
Rockets 65, Wolves 61 - 9:17 3Q
And here comes Houston.
Wolves 59, Rockets 55 - Halftime
Playoff Teague is STILL here! He leads the way with 14 points at the half for Minnesota. Karl-Anthony Towns has 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Wolves 51, Rockets 50 - 2:26 2Q
Wolves 51, Rockets 47 - 3:46 2Q
The Rockets have seven three-pointers and the Timberwolves have six to start the game. Minnesota just had a ten point lead before Houston took a big chunk out of it. Also of note, James Harden and Chris Paul are a combined 1-of-11.
Wolves 41, Rockets 37 - 7:29 2Q
Karl-Anthony Towns already has 10 rebounds and we’re not even midway through the second quarter!
Wolves 26, Rockets 25 - End of 1Q
The Houston Rockets will look to close out their first-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 5 on Wednesday night. This series has been a tale of three blowouts and one, ugly close game to kick things off in Game 1. Now, it’s 3-1 Rockets.
Houston’s historically fantastic offense finally came out in Game 4, when the team dropped 50 points in a quarter. James Harden found his jumper for the first time all series, and the Rockets moved in transition like we were accustomed to. Houston looks unstoppable when moving like that.
Wednesday night will be a tough time for the Wolves to bounce back in, especially since it’s a closeout game on the road. Karl-Anthony Towns sounds prepared, though, saying “Pressure at its highest makes diamonds,” according to Jerry Zgoda of the Minnesota Star Tribune.
Jimmy Butler echoed that sentiment, according to Zgoda, saying, “We just have to go out and play basketball. Down 3-1, whatever you want to call it, our back against the walls, still if we do what we’re supposed to do – contest their shots, rebound and we score as well, we can win this game.”
If they can survive Wednesday night, the Wolves will have to do the same on Friday and Sunday.
