Donovan Mitchell and the Utah Jazz were just too much for the Thunder to handle all season, but especially in Game 6. Mitchell’s 38 points led Utah for the game and his massive third quarter is what ultimately put the Jazz in the drivers seat. His third quarter started with 10-for-10 run for him and he finished with 22 points in those 12 minutes alone.
Utah wins Game 6 to advance and end OKC’s season

For OKC, Russell Westbrook shot the ball 46 times in Game 6, finishing with 46 points as well. It may be an ugly stat line to some, but he was definitely the motor that kept the Thunder going. Paul George shot 2-of-15 and that will leave plenty of questions for him as he now heads into a summer of free agency.

Thunder 39, Jazz 36 - 1:15 2Q
The Jazz continue to fight despite losing Ricky Rubio for the remainder of the game with a lingering hamstring issue. They’ll have to find other ways to make the offense spin now, which they’ve started to do after a quick 5-0 run from Jae Crowder and Joe Ingles.

It has not been the prettiest of games so far.
Thunder 22, Jazz 18 - End of 1Q
The Utah Jazz get a second chance to try to eliminate the Oklahoma City Thunder with Game 6 at home Friday night in Salt Lake City (10:30 p.m. ET, ESPN).
Utah missed a golden opportunity on Wednesday night, building on their 3-1 series advantage to take a 25-point lead in the third quarter of Game 5 on the road in Oklahoma City. However a 32-7 run by the home team in under eight minutes tied the score, and the Thunder stayed alive with an eight-point win.
Russell Westbrook had 45 points, more than any other player from either team in this series, and added 15 rebounds and seven assists in the win. He’s nearly averaging a triple-double in this series, which is the norm for him now. Paul George is leading the Thunder in scoring at 28.6 points per game, including 34 in Game 5.
Those two will need to come up big for Oklahoma City to stay alive. Utah has two home wins in two tries so far in this series, winning by 13 and 17 points, respectively.
Donovan Mitchell is averaging 26.6 points and 7.8 rebounds for the Jazz in his first playoff series, and despite blowing the huge lead he remained confident after Game 5.
Mitchell’s 33 points in Game 5 broke Karl Malone’s franchise rookie playoff scoring record.
“It’s definitely an honor to have a record like that,” Mitchell told the Associated Press. “Definitely an honor. No doubt about that, but we have one more game, so I’m focused on that.”
