The Atlanta Hawks will announce former Philadelphia 76ers assistant Lloyd Pierce as their head coach on Monday, according to ESPN’s Marc Spears. The two sides inked a deal that will last three years, with a team option for the fourth, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Pierce has been an assistant with Philly since 2013, spending the six years prior assistant coaching for the Cavaliers, Warriors and Grizzlies. He began his coaching career in 2003 with Santa Clara in a position he stayed at for four years. Pierce is a Santa Clara alumni, most known for playing on the same team as Steve Nash.
The Atlanta Hawks and Mike Budenholzer parted ways last month as he pursues a coaching opportunity in a win-now situation. A first-time head coach, Pierce will learn along with a young, rebuilding team.
The Hawks have four picks in the upcoming 2018 NBA Draft, and three of those will land in the first round. The team has the fourth-best odds at landing the top pick.
