Sheesh, Steph Curry, we get it!

We have that and more in Monday’s NBA newsletter.

You can feel those Stephen Curry nights when they begin. Steph’s Sunday night didn’t really begin until after halftime, with the Warriors already up by a steady margin. To that point in the series, he’d been 1-for-20 on three-pointers. In the second half of Game 3, though, he hit 4-for-5 from deep and 10-for-12 overall for 26 points. Heck, in the third quarter he was 7-for-7 from the floor and 2-for-2 from deep for 18. By the end of the quarter, the Warriors were up 21. They’d win by 41, a complete dismantling of the Rockets after Houston had shown reasons for hope in Game 2.

Curry had continued to struggle through the first 24, and the signs of frustration were mounting. (Steph is certainly more emotive at home than on the road; this makes sense, that he wouldn’t want to give hostile crowds the pleasure of seeing him stress.) But once Curry slipped free for a few layups -- some basic, some acrobatic -- and hit two threes, it was over and everyone knew it.

Now we’re left wondering if the series is over and deep down everyone knows it.

There’s a rumor that Luka Doncic could fall out of the top three if the Suns pass on him at No. 1. This is one of those funny little rumors that is just conditional enough to be meaningless. “X could happen if Y happens.” There’s a market for this type of rumor, which makes it prominent. It doesn’t mean anyone has to take it seriously.

Speaking of Doncic, his Real Madrid club won the EuroLeague championship and he claimed EuroLeague Final Four MVP. At age 19.

Vengeance belongs to the Sparks, who upset the Lynx without Candace Parker in a opening night stunner. Chelsea Gray did it with a buzzer-beating lay-up. Here’s Matt Ellentuck on the Lynx-Sparks rivalry, which might be pro basketball’s best active feud.
