NBA rookies dancing to Carly Rae Jepsen is what the world needs right now

The Deandre Ayton-Mo Bamba friendship reaches a new level.

Ricky O'Donnell has covered basketball at all levels for more than a decade at SB Nation. He’s currently the Associate Director of Programming.

I am a man of few hobbies. Mostly, I enjoy watching young people play basketball and listening to Carly Rae Jepsen. As such, this firmly falls into the category of ‘my shit’.

There is so much to digest here. A few observations.

  • Mo Bamba should be mandated to play in those glasses
  • Deandre Ayton’s hips don’t lie
  • Bamba’s air guitar needs a lot of work
  • Why is Ayton doing the Macarena?

Ayton and Bamba are unpolished, but it’s clear they have the physical tools to one day own the dance floor. We already know they have great taste in music. I have a few other suggestions.

But really, the fact that it’s Bamba and Ayton sharing the dance floor together is perfect.

The Bamba-Ayton faux-rivalry will be a joy to watch

Though they never faced off at the college level, Ayton and Bamba have already been competing against each other for years. Both played on Nike’s EYBL circuit as recruits, where Bamba held a 4-0 advantage in head-to-head matchups against Ayton.

Ayton finally got a win over Bamba in Las Vegas Summer League and was ecstatic.

Ayton walking across the stage to be the No. 1 pick in the draft is literally Bamba’s screensaver. It’s going to be so much fun to watch these two go at each other for the next, oh, 15 years or so.

In conclusion.
