When was the last time the NBA felt this wide open? A chaotic summer has shuffled the league’s stars and rearranged its championship picture, leading to a rare season that begins with no discernible favorite.
SB Nation’s 2019-2020 NBA season preview
The NBA is back, and it looks totally different from the last time it left us.

Kawhi Leonard, fresh off leading to the Raptors to an impossible championship, has made the move to the L.A. Clippers and recruited Paul George to join him. Anthony Davis got his wish of joining LeBron James on the Lakers. The Rockets swapped out Chris Paul for Russell Westbrook to appease James Harden and make the team less predictable in the playoffs. The 76ers are hoping to buck league trends with a supersized lineup that now includes Al Horford. Kyrie Irving is in Brooklyn. D’Angelo Russell is in Golden State. Mike Conley is in Utah.
The Warriors remain lurking in the distance, but this time they don’t have Kevin Durant (now in Brooklyn with Irving as he recovers from a torn Achilles) or Klay Thompson as he rehabs from a torn ACL. Can Stephen Curry grab his third MVP? Is Giannis Antetokounmpo primed to continue taking over the league?
There are so many great storylines waiting to unfold this year. We can’t wait. In the meantime, please enjoy SB Nation’s preview of the 2019-2020 NBA season.
