Jaylen Brown got caught slamming Bronny James, and backtracked immediately on Twitter

Jaylen was so fast to try and make sure LeBron wasn’t mad at him.

James Dator has been covering a wide range of sports for SB Nation for over a decade, with a special focus on the NFL.

Jaylen Brown is having himself a month. After insinuating that he was left off the Team USA roster because of his criticism of Nike, the Celtics star decided to watch a little Summer League action in Vegas when he was filmed court side with WNBA players Angel Reese and Kysre Gondrezick.

More importantly he was watching the Summer League and talking smack about Bronny James.

Brown: “I don’t think Bronny is a pro.’
Gondrezick: “I think he’ll be on the G-League team for sure”
Brown: “I don’t think so. I think because of his name he’ll be on the Lakers

Brown isn’t exactly wrong here. There is no doubt Bronny was picked in the first place because of his last name, and most-importantly because LeBron wanted it. He was also inked to a four-year contract before the Lakers ever really got a look at him. It’s also fair to acknowledge that Bronny has been HORRIFIC. On Monday night he went 3-for-14 from the field, including an impressively awful 0-for-8 from three.

So, if you’re gonna say Bronny isn’t a pro, cool, I agree. What is funny is see him trying to smooth things over as soon as you realize the video is going viral.

At 2:47 a.m. local time, Brown decided he needed to fire off a tweet saying it was a “flex” for LeBron having his son in the league, adding that he “has all the tools to be successful” — though he really didn’t expand on what that means, or how it relates to him saying he’s not a pro hours earlier.

We get it though. Upsetting the King is historically dangerous business.
