KJ Martin managed to shoot the worst airball in NBA history

How is this even possible?

James Dator has been covering a wide range of sports for SB Nation for over a decade, with a special focus on the NFL.

KJ Martin managed the seemingly impossible for an NBA player on Tuesday night by shooting one of the worst shots the association has ever seen.

There are so many amazing elements to this:

  1. Martin releasing this with 14 seconds left on the shot clock
  2. Martin deciding to shoot this at all considering he’s 29.3% from three this season
  3. The ball is still rising and someone calls “short”
  4. The announcers absolutely losing it
  5. That somehow, despite being a solid 10 feet short and wide left of the rim, this still counted as a rebound on the NBA scorecard

It’s just impossible to understate how bad this was. We could go another 50 years and not see a a professional basketball player shoot a shot that was this short, this far off, and this absolutely pathetic.

Thank you KJ Martin for making us feel something. That’s what sports are all about.
