Stephen Curry’s dagger 3 over Jalen Green is even more awesome from courtside fan camera

Stephen Curry has tortured the Houston Rockets more than any team during his legendary career. Curry’s Golden State Warriors eliminated the James Harden-led Rockets from the NBA Playoffs in 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019. The Rockets tore it down and went into a rebuild because they weren’t able to get past the Warriors. That rebuild has been a massive success leading Houston to the No. 2 seed in the West this year, but all that meant was another matchup with Curry and the Warriors.

Golden State might have a No. 7 seed next to its name in the first round matchup vs. Houston, but the Warriors were actually a slight favorite heading into the series. It all comes back to Curry, and he showed why he remains one of the best players in the world at age-37 as he lifted his team to a Game 1 win.

Curry destroyed the Rockets again with dagger after dagger on his way to 31 points on 12-of-19 shooting with 5-of-9 shooting from three-point range. The greatest shooter ever hit multiple back-breaking threes that were impressive even for him, especially his leaning side-step triple over Jalen Green to beat the shot clock in the third quarter.

Curry’s shot looked incredible on TV, but this courtside fan cam footage is even better. This is what it looks like to see Curry torment the Rockets in the Toyota Center again.

The Rockets were playing physical defense on Curry all night, but it didn’t matter. Houston used Amen Thompson to lock down Curry during a matchup at the end of the regular season, but Golden State did a good job getting him free off the ball in Game 1. Of course, it helps when Curry can make shots that no other player alive would even think about attempting. Poor Jalen Green couldn’t help but bearhug Curry on the court to keep him from sprinting off screens.

Meanwhile, the Rockets tried to target Curry’s defense on the other end without much success. Curry held his own defensively all night. While the matchup tracking stats shouldn’t be used as bible, Curry did hold Houston players to 4-of-16 shooting as the primary defender on the night.

Houston fans have seen enough of Curry for one lifetime. Unfortunately for them, this new generation of the Rockets still needs to beat him four times in this first round series to keep their season alive.
