Ja Morant went into his Call of Duty arsenal to get around NBA finger gun fine

Adam Silver is not going to like Ja Morant’s latest celebration

Ja Morant’s love of finger guns got him a stiff $75K fine from NBA commissioner Adam Silver over the weekend. Morant flashed his finger guns celebration last week during a game against the Golden State Warriors, received a warning from the league, and then did it again two nights later against the Miami Heat. Morant had previously been suspended for the first 25 games of the 2023-24 season for posting actual guns on social media channels.

Morant had to get creative with his celebrations in the wake of his latest punishment, and he came up with something hilarious. Guns are out. Hand grenades are in. Morant pulled out of his grenade celebration as the Grizzlies were blasting the tanking Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday night. This is art.

Here’s another look at Morant throwing the grenade.

There’s part of me that feels like there’s too much war imagery in sports. There’s another part of me that feels like responding to a gun celebration fine with a grenade celebration is brilliant.

Someone on Twitter suggested Morant should use the grenade celebration two days ago. What did he know?

The Grizzlies have been in a tailspin at the end of this season that has already cost head coach Taylor Jenkins his job. There’s nothing like a game against the Hornets to get the vibes back on track.
