It’s a year away, so we’ll try to temper our excitement here. But good lord! The Maui Invitational announced today that it will feature the following teams in the 2011 edition of its annual tournament:

↵↵Duke, Kansas, UCLA, Michigan, Georgetown, Tennessee, & Memphis
↵↵If you’re not a college hoops fan, fine. You probably think it’s normal to have seven blue chip programs play each other that early in the season. But it’s NOT normal for big time programs to cohabitate like that. Two, maybe three of those programs would be normal.
↵But all of them at once? That’s a lot to handle.
↵To give you an idea, Duke is the Betty Draper of college basketball. Kansas is Joan Holloway. UCLA is Trudy Campbell, Michigan is Peggy Olson, Georgetown is Rachel Mencken, Tennessee is Don’s teacher mistress, and that frisky Memphis program is probably Roger Sterling’s 24 year-old wife. See what I’m saying? It’s like an orgy of big time basketball. And it’s pretty much the best orgy of all time.
