The Marquette Golden Eagles weren’t exactly major underdogs against the highly ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish, but they weren’t supposed to win by three touchdowns either. The Golden Eagles shot a ludicrous 70 percent from three-point land, hitting 12 of 17 and nearly doubling Notre Dame’s shooting rate from the field.
Notre Dame Vs. Marquette Final Score: Golden Eagles 79, Fighting Irish 57 In Big East Blowout
Marquette guard Dwight Buycks hit all five of his threes, forward Jae Crowder connected on four of six, and guard Darius Johnson-Odom made three of five. No word on what’s wrong with forward Jamall Jones, who missed his only three.
Notre Dame drops to 14-3 and will leave the top ten, hoping to bounce back against the St. John’s Red Storm. Marquette moves to 12-5 and 3-1 in the Big East with a chance to do it again against the Louisville Cardinals next.
