A College Basketball Name To Know: Tony Wroten, Washington Huskies

We're still a few weeks away from the beginning of college basketball, but especially in light of the NBA lockout, we may as well get an early start. And if you're looking for the most impressive freshmen in the country, there's Quincy Miller at Baylor, Anthony Davis at Kentucky, Austin Rivers at Duke, and Andre Drummond at UConn.

But Washington’s freshmen point guard, Tony Wroten, could end up better than any of them. Need proof? From ESPN’s College Basketball Nation:

Over the weekend, there was Romar on 950 KJR comparing Wroten to Magic Johnson, saying, “Sometimes guys see things, but they see it a second late. He sees things right as they are developing and he delivers the ball on the spot. And he can do that while going full speed. And those are things that Magic was able to do.”
“When he did come into the game, the game would change because defensively, he would lead the charge,” Romar said. “That was pretty impressive. When the game was on the line, that’s how he would respond.”

And if the Magic Johnson comparison from his coach wasn't enough to convince you... Here's Wroten going head-to-head with no less than John Wall, and more than holding his own:

We’ll talk more about college hoops as we get closer to the season, but for now, I think we should all agree that if Tony Wroten does take college hoops by storm, he should do it with a great nickname.

With that in mind, my early submission... Beware of MURDER T WROTE.
