Former Arizona guard Lamont “MoMo” Jones has been granted a hardship waiver that will make him eligible to play at Iona right away. His ill grandmother is believed to be the basis of the New York native’s hardship request.
“MoMo” a go at Iona
↵Jones averaged 9.7 points and 2.4 assists as a sophomore, and played a key role in Arizona’s run to the elite eight. Had he stayed, he would have likely been competing for the starting point guard job this season with freshman All-American Josiah Turner.
↵Even before this news broke, most had already pegged Iona as either the team to beat or the team to challenge defending champion Fairfield in the MAAC.
