The Cleveland State Vikings were thought of as a solid team that should finish high in the Horizon League coming into this season, but not as one of the country's premier mid-majors. With first-round NBA draft pick Norris Cole gone, it wasn't obvious where the scoring would come from. They're looking just fine without him, as D'Aundray Brown's 18 points guided them to a stunning upset of the No. 7 Vanderbilt Commodores in the Legends Classic on Sunday, 71-58.

Cleveland State led wire-to-wire in a stunning road win in Nashville, going up 3-0 in the first minute of the game and never allowing Vanderbilt to take the lead or even tie the score. They shot 50 percent from the floor and forced Vanderbilt into 20 turnovers while out-rebounding them and recording seven more assists than their opponents in a comprehensive victory. Vanderbilt star John Jenkins scored 17 points, but shot just 5-14 from the field while the Commodores got just nine points from their bench.
