The Miami Hurricanes coasted to an easy victory of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Miami opened the game leading by 10 at halftime, 35-25. The Scarlet Knights were once again outscored in the second half as the Hurricanes rode it out for the 15 point victory.

Guards Durand Scott and Malcolm Grant scored 19 points each to lead the Hurricanes. In the second half, Rutgers did manage to go on a 15-2 run in which Miami didn't score for a total of 8:40 and cut into their massive lead. Even with the run, Rutgers did come very close at all to mounting a comeback, trailing by at least double digits after halftime until the final buzzer to end the basketball game.
