Casper Ware scored a game-high 28 points as the Long Beach State 49ers knocked off No. 9 Pitt on Wednesday night at Peterson Events Center, 86-76. The 49ers took a nine-point lead into the half and never looked back, keeping the Panthers at arms length throughout the second half en route to the 10-point win.

Long Beach State traveled to Pitt and knocked off the No. 9 Panthers on Wednesday night, 86-76.
For the game, the 49ers were almost lights out from inside the arc, connecting on just over 69 percent of their two-point attempts. Long Beach State worked the ball around, as well, assisting on 24 of 32 made buckets.
Ware paced a strong effort from the Long Beach starters, connecting on 10-of-18 shots from the field including 4-of-11 from beyond the arc. He was joined in double-figures by James Ennis (19 points) Larry Anderson (12 points) and T.J. Robinson (11 points). Robinson also finished with a game-high eight assists.
Ashton Gibbs scored a team-high 20 points for the Panthers while also dishing out four assists. Nasir Robinson put up 19 points, Travon Woodall added 17 points and Lamar Patterson finished with 16 points.
The loss drops Pittsburgh to 2-1 on the year. Long Beach State improved to 2-0 and picked up a valuable road upset win in the process.
